Welcome to June, Delray! Usually, this month we are saying goodbye to our seasonal residents and enjoying less crowds in our favorite restaurants…needless to say, things may be a bit different this summer. Due to lifted restrictions in our tropical paradise, many are flocking to our Sunshine State for some much-needed freedom.
This month we celebrate Dear Ol’ Dad! Need fresh ideas on treating Dad for Father’s Day? We’ve got you covered. Atlantic Ave and Delray Beach is chock full of activities to enjoy with Dad. Check out our Father’s Day feature and Delray Under $50.
Charlene Farrington is our City Person this month. Charlene is the Executive Director of the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum, and a Delray Native! She is instrumental in making sure that “every child that goes to Palm Beach County Schools would be aware that there is a rich Black history” there. This is a project that her mom Vera began!
This past year has taught us many important life lessons, one of which is to be prepared! June 1st is the beginning of hurricane season, and it runs through November 30th. Let’s be responsible and not wait until we are under a storm watch or warning to gather essentials. We should all have a hurricane kit, plenty of supplies, and an evacuation plan for ourselves and our pets too. Read more about Hurricane Prep in our Special Feature inside.
