OCTOBER IN DELRAY BEACH: CELEBRATING COMMUNITY, ART, AND ORCHID

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the October issue of Atlantic Ave Magazine. Whether you’re a longtime resident, a new arrival, or a visitor discovering our city for the first time, we hope this issue inspires you to connect, explore, and celebrate.

To me, October means more than pumpkin spice or ghosts, ghouls, and witches (which are obviously extremely important). It’s a celebration of the community spirit from the bustling sidewalk cafés to art galleries lit with golden afternoon light. The avenue is alive with locals and visitors alike, each weaving their story into the tapestry of Delray Beach.

October also marks the beginning of our city’s renowned First Friday Art Walk, which is a self-guided tour of our art studios and galleries and cultural art centers. Join us on Friday, October 3rd, from 6pm to 9pm, stroll downtown, enjoy the live entertainment and have a chance to meet the artists.

I love Orchids, and if you do too, mark your calendars for October 25th and 26th. The Delray Beach Orchid Society’s Annual Show & Sale will be at The Fieldhouse at Old School Square, 51 N Swinton Ave, Delray Beach. It’s a chance to bag yourself some beautiful, vibrant orchids and maybe get educated on how to keep them alive too!

This month, the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 5th year of the Do Good Delray program. It’s a month-long event designed to create collaborations between non-profit and for-profit businesses. Their goal is to bring like-minded people together to raise awareness and increase funding to good causes throughout our community. Look out for the 24 events this month.

Signing off, I hope you enjoy the crisp evenings, lively streets, and a wonderful October filled with fun, neighborly cheer, and the enduring spirit of Delray Beach.

Ciao for now!

One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn’t as individuals.
