DELRAY BEACH GOLF CLUB: Introduces Their New Accomplished Food And Beverage Manager

Delray Beach Golf Club has an illustrious history. It was designed by the legendary golf course architect Donald Ross and officially opened in 1926.

It was not only named one of America’s 100 Best Value Courses by Golf Magazine, but it is considered one of the finest municipal courses in the area.

That says a lot.
Especially in a city where commerce, concrete, and construction loom large on the idyllic natural resources upon which the city was built.

That is why everyone is thrilled they recently hired a new Food and Beverage Manager/Clubhouse manager. Not only is Bryan Tyrell the newcomer to their established restaurant and lounge, but he also has a back story filled with awards, accolades, and excellence.

Tyrell was a Smokehouse Manager at a Barbeque restaurant in Kansas City for six years. It was a popular restaurant and ranked the number one Barbeque Restaurant each year by Zagat’s Guide.

He also opened five new restaurants in over six years in the UK (Bo-dean’s BBQ). While he was there, they were nominated twice for Best American Restaurant in the UK, and the Ribs were named The Best on that side of the pond. Tyrell also worked in the Caribbean, South Africa and St. Martin creating plans for Jamie Oliver’s restaurants.

To Tyrell his occupation is his preoccupation. As one of nine children, he watched his mother make great dinners for the whole brood.

“Our normal Sunday dinner would be three whole chickens, ten pounds of potatoes, gravy and ten ears of corn,” said Tyrell who grew up on a farm.

But it is working in restaurants that has made his career one of greatness and gratitude. “I enjoy hospitality and serving food that people enjoy. I want guests to have a good time and share their dining experience with friends and family. It’s good to know I am a part of their enjoyment and dining experience.”

The menu at the Delray Beach Golf Course will vary with daily lunch specials. They’re open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and serves comfort food such as charcoal-grilled burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken sandwiches, Deli and Italian sandwiches (with side dishes) on as-sorted bread at reasonable prices.

You don’t have to play golf to stop by for breakfast or lunch. The restaurant and lounge are open to anyone who wants an economical snack, breakfast or lunch. You can have a snack before or after golf and enjoy spending time at their outdoor grill and patio.

“If you want to talk business but don’t want to go for fast food or dine on Atlantic Avenue, we are the perfect alternative for you and your guest. We also do full catering,” said Tyrell.

Did Tyrell say Catering? He sure did.

The Delray Beach Golf Club is well known for its moderately priced catering facility with an elegant pedigree. They host weddings, Banquets, Corporate Events, Rehearsal Dinners, Company Picnics, Fundraisers, Birthday and Holiday parties, School functions, Religious gatherings, Class and Family Reunions and more.

Their Full Catering Services include Specialized Dishes, Steaks, Carving Stations, Turkey, Ham, Salmon, Tilapia, Chicken Marsala and more (all fresh).

They also offer Breakfast Buffets and a Saturday Brunch Buffet. You can also go for a golf outing and return for cocktails, brunch, or lunch afterward.

There are three different banquet rooms available. The Louise Suggs Room accommodates 30 people, the Donald Ross Room accommodates 70 people, and the Betty Jamison Room holds 180. You can combine two rooms to hold up to 250 people for an event.

They can also decorate the room for you. They recently catered a guest’s 80th Birthday Party and decorated the room in black and white. Congress Middle School had a Mardi Gras theme party with specialized candy and décor to fit this outsized New Orleans tradition.

“We are very cost-effective for special events. The golf course and clubhouse speak for themselves – I am glad to be a part of it. We make any occasion a memorable one, and it’s open to the public.”

The Delray Beach Golf Club amenities include a driving range, putting green, chipping green, full-service pro shop, locker rooms, restaurant and lounge.

The Golf Course is open from 7 a.m. until dark. You can play golf in the morning and get a ”Grab and Go” Breakfast with fruit, apple granola bars, muffins, Danish, or a Sausage and Egg sandwich for $6.

They also have a full-service bar with Beer, Wine, Alcohol, and Special Cocktails. The Bar is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is where regulars come to read the paper, have coffee, or do crossword puzzles. You can have a drink at the bar and enjoy the company of others or enjoy peace and quiet.

“I don’t have limits on what I would like to do. We’ll see what people want. There is a difference between service and hospitality. Service is how you bring out food, hospitality is how you make guests feel while they are dining.”
