It’s not hard to notice Pamela Higer-Polani. She is the statuesque beauty who is poised and always dressed like a Hollywood movie star.
Although her fashion sense is impeccable, it is Pam’s philanthropy and kind heart that shine the brightest. She also has many titles: lawyer, mother, wife and philanthropist whose giving knows no bounds.
Her heart is open and her mind is as swift as a streetlight at a busy intersection. But it’s her presence in South Florida’s nonprofit (and legal community) that is nothing short of extraordinary.
But to define her by titles alone would miss the essence of who she is. Polani is a woman of motion and purpose deeply committed to lifting others up.
She grew up in Homestead, Florida in a traditional household that nurtured her intellect and ambition. Her father, Aaron Higer, was a scientist who spearheaded restoration projects like the Everglades and inspired his daughter with a simple, unwavering message: “You can do anything.”
Pam has imbued this philosophy in her core.
Not only in the field of law, but in everything she does. To quantify her philanthropic prowess would take volumes.
Her legal training started when she accompanied her older brother Michael to the University of Miami’s Law School library when she was young.
“Michael was smart and so special. I thought if he’s doing this, I should too.”
This early exposure to law planted seeds that would later grow into a formidable legal career. Her debate coach at Miami Palmetto High School, Fran Berger, also became a part of that journey.
After exposure to speech and debate classes in high school she blossomed from a shy bookworm to a strong young woman.
“Debate helped me so much. I loved public speaking and the interaction it fostered. I also learned to engage in civil discourse, even withopposing viewpoints.”
This foundation of reasoning and communication shaped Po-lani’s approach as both a lawyer and a civic leader.
Her law firm specializes in estate planning, probate, trusts, succession planning, foreclosure defense, and digital asset protection.
Polani calls herself a concierge attorney and provides home visits and personalized services. “Just like old-fashioned doctors did, I make house calls when necessary.”
Her commitment to clients’ well-being has uncovered hidden challenges. By recognizing dementia cases she has become a caring advocate for those who can’t speak for themselves.
But it is Pam’s philanthropic work that defines her golden heart and recognition. In 2013, she founded the Boca Walk to End Alzheimer’s, a community-based initiative to raise awareness, education, and funds for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and dementia care.
Under Pam’s leadership, it became the #1 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in South Florida. Over 6,000 participants walked and they raised over $1 million. In 2017 and 2018, she was Florida’s top fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Soon afterwards, Polani founded Brain Bowl, a Florida-based nonprofit that’s raised over $3 million for neurocognitive disorders. These initiatives are more than events, they are missions.
“The brain is our engine and every memory matters. That’s why I focus on intergenerational support. That means bringing together young and old, volunteers and families to create a community unit-ed against Alzheimer’s and dementia.”
Pam’s dedication has not gone unnoticed. Last month she was the inaugural recipient of Alzheimer’s Community Care’s “Heart of Hope” award at their 30th anniversary luncheon.
The event honored her tireless efforts to keep families supported and safe. Fellow philanthropist, Hadas Levy, praises her caring heart and leadership. “You’re not only an incredible philanthropist, but also a wonderful mother, amazing attorney and friend.”
Pam’s approach to giving extends beyond events. She encourages people to give their time, emphasizing that it’s most priceless gift one can give. Her philosophy is drawn from her upbringing and personal convictions. It is simple yet profound: To whom much is given, much is required.
That requirement is indeed a hefty one. Yet one that Polani wouldn’t trade on any exchange.”Managing a thriving law practice, a busy family life and an extensive philanthropic portfolio is no small feat. But I am always up to the task.”
That includes raising two wonderful sons and being a devoted wife to husband Mark.
Ninety-eight percent of life is attitude and showing up, she says. And show up she does. She attends 25 charitable events a month, while maintaining a poised runway-ready presence and passion for the cause.
Pam’s community involvement includes dozens of organizations, from United We Rock to Roots and Wings, AVDA, the Diaper Bank of South Florida, the Boca West Children’s Foundation, and many others.
She also serves on the board of the American Association of Caregiving Youth, helping to inspire and mobilize the next gen-eration of caregivers and civic leaders.
Pam’s personal style and charisma are only matched by her professional rigor. Referring to herself as Legally Blonde Barbie, she often adds, “I may look like Super Girl, but I fight like Wonder Woman.”
Her dedication has earned her numerous awards. They include the Florida Association of Women Lawyers’ Outstanding Member, the “Woman of Distinction” award by Soroptimist International, Leader in Law by the Florida Bar Association, Attorney of the Year by Attorney at Law magazine, “Woman of Worth” award from the Central Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce and many more.
She has also been nominated five times by the Junior League of Boca Raton as a Volunteer of the Year. Beyond awards and accolades, Polani’s true impact lies in her ability to inspire others. Her social media posts are often poetic and deeply reflective, encouraging others to act, give, love, and engage.
She speaks to her audience as if Hemingway and Elizabeth Gilbert co-authored her thoughts, blending poignancy with purpose. Polani’s words reflect her belief that community service is both a responsibility and a privilege.
Despite her immense contributions, Pam remains grounded. She attributes her resilience to her upbringing, her father, and mentors who shaped her character.
Her father’s brilliance, her aunt’s unwavering support, and the guidance of teachers like Fran Berger instilled in her the importance of service, integrity, and perseverance.
“God gave me the day, not just for myself but to help others,” she adds.
Every morning, she rises before the sun (sometimes sending emails at 5am), ready to meet the day’s challenges and opportunities. Beneath this action-packed persona is the maxim she lives by: Live life to the fullest and help others do the same.
Pam is more than a lawyer, philanthropist, and mother. She is a beacon of hope, and an example of what it means to combine intellect, compassion and action.
South Florida is richer for her presence, and the communities she touches are stronger because of her vision, dedication and golden heart. She embodies the principle that meaningful work, combined with relentless dedication can transform lives.
Connie Siskowski, founder of the American Association of Caregiving Youth sees her influence in neon lights. “You would run out of print space if I tried to list all that Pamela has done. She’s an extraordinary, bright, courageous, tenacious, caring, and beautiful woman of our community.”
Pam Polani lives her life by example. She shows that success is measured not only by personal achievement, but by how much one gives back. She is a philanthropic angel, a brilliant force for good and a beloved South Florida treasure.
County Commissioner, Maria Sachs, agrees.
“Pamela is a blond powerhouse packed in a 5”5 athletic body always poised for action! She defines what a strong woman is without losing her femininity and charm. We love and treasure her as a warrior, a hero and a friend.”
