Happy Halloween Month

Welcome you to the spooktacular October issue of Atlantic Ave Magazine. Whether you’re a longtime local, a seasonal visitor, or a brave first-time explorer of Delray Beach, I hope this issue brings you plenty of reasons to connect, discover, and celebrate—no tricks, just pure treats, I promise.

For me, October always brings a little magic: pumpkin spice, playful ghosts, friendly vampires, cheerful zombies, trick-or-treaters, and, of course, witches — lots and lots of witches. On October 24, the 15th Annual Witches of Delray Ride will fill our downtown with hundreds of costumed witches pedaling through the streets. If you’re there, join the fun and dare to scare!

October is also a celebration of the community spirit in Delray Beach, from the bustling sidewalk cafés to art galleries lit with golden afternoon light. The avenue is alive with locals and visitors alike, each weaving their story into the tapestry of our town.

This month also shines a spotlight on the ‘Do Good Delray’ program, led by the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce. Throughout October, local non-profit and for-profit businesses team up through a fun, creative calendar of events designed to raise awareness, build partnerships, and support good causes across our community.

I love orchids, even if they don’t always seem to love me back. If you’re a fan too, mark your calendar for October 24 and 25, when the Delray Beach Orchid Society’s Annual Show & Sale comes to the Vintage Gym at Old School Square. It’s the per-fect chance to bag yourself some beautiful, vibrant orchids, and maybe even learn how to keep them thriving — advice I could definitely use!

As we sign off, I hope your October is filled with crisp evenings, glowing pumpkins, ghostly glamour, lively streets, neighborly cheer, and all the happy Halloween magic Delray Beach does so well.

When witches go riding, and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers, ‘tis near Halloween.
