GIVE THANKS THIS NOVEMBER

Welcome to the November issue of Atlantic Ave Magazine. A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful, loyal readers for your continued support.

At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we honor all those who have served our country in war or peace and thank them for their patriotism and sacrifices for the common good.

I’ve always said Delray Beach folks are the most generous people (because it’s true)—and we’re so thankful for that. This month’s many events celebrate that spirit by helping those less fortunate.

A tradition unlike any other returns: the 40th annual Delray Beach Turkey Trot 5K returns Saturday, November 21, 2026, starting and finishing at Anchor Park.

So, set your alarm and join the fun—you won’t regret it! Start your day on one of the country’s most scenic 5K routes, then enjoy your Thanksgiving feast without the guilt. It’s a win-win!

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26 this year—a joyful chance to give Thanks for the year’s blessings. Gather with family and friends for turkey and pecan or pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream or ice cream. (Yum!) And don’t forget football—it’s just as much a holiday tradition as the meal itself.

November is Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) awareness month. Visit our Gotta Know section to learn more.

World Diabetes Day falls on November 14, the birthday of insulin pioneer Sir Frederick Banting. Insulin has saved millions of lives worldwide, and for this we are thankful. This year’s theme is “Early Action on Diabetes”.

Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving!

We should certainly count our blessings, but we should also make our blessings count.”
