WELCOME, READERS, TO THE SWEET, SLOW BURN OF JULY IN DELRAY BEACH

If January belongs to our beloved winter visitors, then July belongs entirely to us!

This is the month when the pace of Atlantic Avenue beautifully shifts from a frantic winter sprint to a relaxed, sun-drenched stroll, and the true rhythm of our coastal community shines through.

Yes, the South Florida summer heat is undeniable, but there is a special sort of magic tucked inside these long, hazy days.
You find it in the quiet of a 6:00 AM walk along our pristine shore before the humidity rises—our beach, freshly crowned “Best Beach in Florida” in USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for the third year in a row. Kudos Delray Beach!

You can find it, too, in the cool shade of the historic banyan trees at Old School Square, or in the sudden relief of a late-afternoon tropical thunderstorm. July has a charming way of asking us to slow down, breathe deeper, and appreciate our village-by-the-sea at its most authentic.

Locals and visitors alike are invited to this year’s Fourth of July celebration, where we’ll witness the ceremonial opening of a time capsule sealed 50 years ago. What a rare and wonderful chance to peek into the messages, memories, and dreams our predecessors tucked away for the future. And as evening falls, fireworks will scatter their sparkle across the Atlantic shoreline—a truly dazzling way to celebrate, and I for one will be there!

Delray Beach in July is also the time to support our favorite homegrown boutiques, galleries, and eateries during the quieter season. This is our time to reclaim our favorite sidewalk tables, chat a little longer with our neighbors, and celebrate the close-knit community spirit that makes Delray so special.

In this July issue you’ll meet the passionate business owners who keep our local economy glowing year-round, and share stories that capture the unique, laid-back energy of a true Florida summer.

So, grab a cold drink, find a patch of shade, and settle into our latest issue. Here’s to making the most of these sun-soaked days together.

See you on the Avenue!!

The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it.
