National Giving Campaign Highlights the Work of Black-Led, Black-Benefiting Organization’s Across the Country
On August 28, 2026, The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum will kick off Give 8/28 to raise money for its 100th Anniversary “The House Still Stands” celebration, preserving the importance of historical preservation.
The Spady House, which houses The Spady Museum, was built and inhabited in 1926 by Solomon D. Spady, a local Black activist and educator. One hundred years after its construction, The Spady House serves as a community hub for art, culture and historical preservation through its programs, events, archives and engagement.
In celebration, the museum is raising $100,000 to continue to offer its important programming to the public. More than halfway to its goal,
The Spady Museum is working with Give 8/28 to help raise $45,000 in order to meet its goal, and to raise the profile of its worthwhile mission.

The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum will focus its fundraising efforts on meeting its 100th anniversary goal of raising $100,000.
“We’re $45,000 away from achieving our anniversary year milestone. Funds raised during Give 8/28 allows our staff to keep creating and offering programs that our community appreciates,” said CFO Sharon Blake.
