For co-owners Shawn Rich and Jonathan Vergin, the work has always been about far more than bricks and mortar.

Sandbar Builders is intentionally boutique, allowing Shawn and Jonathan to remain personally involved in every phase of each project. From pre-construction consultation through completion they are engaged in every aspect from building permits to tile selection.

Both Shawn and Jonathan were practically born into the building industry. A South Florida native, Shawn comes from a multi-generational architectural woodworking family. Both his father and grandfather were deeply rooted in custom carpentry and architectural fabrication.
“I grew up sweeping floors in a wood shop and working at the bench. That hands-on exposure created a direct connection between raw materials and the finished product for me.”
Jonathan’s story follows a parallel path. Raised in the suburbs of Chicago he started working in the trade when he was 17. “Both of my grandfathers were craftsmen. The building business is in my DNA.”
The two met over 20 years ago while working on prestigious projects in Fisher Island. “We’ve been inseparable since then. It’s like we are brothers from other mothers.”

This craftsmanship and expertise has taken them beyond Florida. They built a home for a client in the Bahamas and are adamant that they will go wherever they are needed. They are working on a home in Palm Beach Island and just finished one in the elite Bears Club.
